From the classroom to the professional world

Animal Care is a strongly practice-oriented degree programme.
Learning extends beyond the classroom through field activities carried out in zoos, aquaria, wildlife rehabilitation centres and other specialised facilities, offering direct insight into the daily work of professionals in the field.
During the second semester of the third year, students undertake a curricular traineeship that represents their first professional experience. This provides the opportunity to apply acquired knowledge and skills while working with different species, international organisations and highly specialised institutions.
Each year, students complete traineeships in partner organisations including zoos, aquaria, wildlife rehabilitation centres, research laboratories, sanctuaries and biodiversity conservation organisations. Almost half of the traineeship placements are hosted abroad, in countries such as the United States, Canada, the Bahamas, South Africa, several European countries, and Central and South America.
This international network offers a unique educational experience, allowing students to work alongside professionals from around the world while developing competences that are immediately applicable in their future careers.
